Magnetic Methods of Applied Geophysics - rövid ismertető
Magnetic prospecting is one of the oldest geophysical surveys. It has a long
history from the application of the mining compass of Agricola to the magnetic
measurements from satellites. The interpretation procedures of magnetic
measurements have changed signifi cantly from the graphical methods to
computer based interpretation. The main aim of this textbook is the detailed
summary and discussion of the contemporary procedures which are presently
applied in the magnetic interpretation. The subject of this book, the reduction
and analysis of magnetic survey has been developed in the lectures presented
to the students majoring in geophysics at the Eötvös Loránd University. The
present book consists of three parts: Fundamentals of the magnetic methods,
Mathematical tools of interpretation, and Interpretation of magnetic anomalies.
Some mathematical details are summarized in the appendices. The discussed
methods are illustrated by model calculations and fi eld examples.
